KidsHealth is a great website with all kinds of information that is reviewed by professional doctors, educators, counselors, and others who try to help young adults. When you have some time, browse some of their columns. You may just find some advice that can help you in a tough situation. Below are some tips they recommend for school work. The tips are very helpful.

Below is a list of study ideas. If you have other ideas, let me know and I will add them to this list for future students.
  • Take the "Kobe Kuiz" located at the end of the PowerPoints.
  • Go to www.classzone.com and try the following:
    • Section quizzes
    • Concept Maps
    • Vocabulary Games
  • Rewrite your notes a day or two after taking them. This will help you keep it fresh in your mind.
  • Ask a parent/friend/sibling/relative to make a practice quiz from your notes. Then take the quiz and correct your answers when finished.
  • Answer the "assessment" questions located at the end of every section in your textbook. See me if you wish to review the answers.
  • Find a small study group. Be sure that you choose people who are willing to work and not gossip and talk. This forces you to talk biology, read biology, listen to biology, and write biology.
  • Read the book pages and create an outline. Then actually review the outline from time to time.
  • Answer the review questions located at the end of every chapter. See me if you wish to review the answers.
  • Create vocabulary flash cards. These are a good way to start but they should not be the only way to study. They are great for memorizing vocabulary words but terrible when you need to explain something other than a vocabulary word.
